The Fairy Dog Mother began as a labour of love in 2003 when Brenda May Curtis opened her home to fur babies needing a safe, comforting place while their parents were away. What began as a peaceful retirement activity flourished into one of Milnerton’s most beloved doggy daycares.
In 2023, Brenda decided to retire completely and entrusted the business to Janine and Darren, who returned from the UK to continue the legacy. Keeping the heart of the business intact has always been our priority.
Today, we honour Brenda’s vision by offering consistent love, safety, structure, and happiness to every dog that walks through our door.

My love for dogs began in the early 1990s while helping run a kennels and cattery business, where I discovered a deep connection with animals and a lifelong purpose.
Even then, I dreamed of creating a safe, loving space where dogs and cats could be cared for like family. Years later, after watching Brenda successfully manage her animal care business for 17 years, the opportunity arose to take over—and we returned to South Africa to turn that dream into reality.
The early years of building our doggy daycare in Milnerton were both rewarding and heartbreaking. Losing many of our senior fur babies tested our resilience, but it strengthened our commitment to providing compassionate, reliable pet care. I poured myself into rebuilding the business, connecting with local pet parents across Milnerton and the greater Western Cape through daily updates, videos, and social media—so families could see their dogs happy, safe, and loved.
Starting with very little, we gradually transformed our space into a warm, home-like daycare where dogs can play, relax, and thrive. Every improvement has been made with comfort, safety, and happiness in mind.
Our goal is simple: to offer one of the most loving and trusted doggy daycare environments in Milnerton. Every dog is treated as our own, showered with attention, affection, and care. Their wagging tails and joyful energy say it all—this is a place built on passion, trust, and genuine love for dogs.

Dogs have been at the heart of my life from the very beginning. Growing up surrounded by wagging tails and a variety of breeds shaped a lifelong passion for canine care that followed me into adulthood.
My career as a medic in the South African military further strengthened this foundation, where vet orderly training equipped me with valuable knowledge of canine health and wellbeing.
In 2003, my mother founded The Fairy Dog Mother, a trusted doggy daycare built on love, dedication, and exceptional care. For over 20 years, she ran the business single-handedly, earning a loyal following for her compassionate, cage-free approach to dog care. In 2023, she retired and entrusted my wife Janine and I with continuing her legacy. We returned home from the UK to proudly launch The Fairy Dog Mother Gen2.
Today, we continue to offer premium doggy daycare in Milnerton, Western Cape, with the same personal attention and care—now enhanced with modern services. These include Just Raw dog food, quality dog products, toys, treats, dog walking services, and partnerships with local groomers and rescue organisations.
Our facility provides 24-hour, cage-free dog care, ensuring every dog receives true V.I.P. (Very Important Pooch) treatment in a safe, secure, home-like environment. Every fur baby is treated as family, with comfort, happiness, and wellbeing always our top priority.
